Floating wooden floors (units only)
COVERED
Floating wooden floors are wooden floorboards that are not nailed, glued, or otherwise permanently fixed to a surface. Instead, they fit directly over the existing flooring. Here are instances where coverage may or may not be included in AAMI Home Contents Insurance.
What’s covered
We cover floating wooden floors as part of your contents insurance if your contents are insured in a unit and they are not considered fittings legally part of the unit building according to relevant State or Territory law.
What’s not covered
We will not cover any item which is legally part of a unit building according to the relevant State or Territory law (e.g., NSW Strata Schemes Management Act 2015, Strata Schemes Management Regulation 2016) and not part of an individual lot owner’s entitlement. You are responsible for determining whether a fitting is legally part of a unit building according to the relevant State or Territory law.
