COVERED
A crack of lightning can be very frightening, especially when it happens close by. Here is a brief overview of what coverage is provided under AAMI Home Building and/or Contents Insurance for loss or damage caused by lightning.
What’s covered
Loss or damage caused to your building or contents by lightning (including power surge caused by lightning).
What’s not covered
There are instances where you will not be covered. These are:
- any claim where the Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology has no record of lightning in your area at the time of the loss or damage;
- loss or damage without written confirmation from a qualified repairer (e.g. electronics repairer) saying lightning was the actual cause of the loss or damage;
- loss or damage caused by power failures or surges by your power provider.
