At AAMI, we’re standing by for when you need to make a claim – and for when you don’t.

What are Safe Driver rewards?

For each consecutive year you drive safely and renew your AAMI Comprehensive Car Insurance policy without making a claim that affects your Safe Driver Rewards status, you get rewarded. There are two benefits: a Safe Driver Rewards credit, and a discount off optional AAMI Roadside Assist.

The Safe Driver Rewards credit starts at 2.5% from your first renewal and increases up to 15%* once you reach Diamond status Year 10+. This is a percentage of the previous year’s premium which is applied as a credit to next year’s premium*. The credit increases as you progress through the AAMI Safe Driver Rewards program. The optional Roadside Assist discount starts at 5% after reaching Platinum status, and can reach up to 25%# at Diamond status. This is so long as you don’t make a claim that impacts your Safe Driver Rewards status.

*Maximum 15% credit is for drivers who don't make a claim on their AAMI Comprehensive Car Insurance policy that impacts their Safe Driver Rewards status for 10 years+. Credit is a percentage of the last year's premium amount (prior to the application of any Safe Driver Rewards Credit) and is given as a credit to next year's premium.

#Maximum 25% optional Roadside Assist discount is for drivers who don't make a claim on their AAMI Comprehensive Car Insurance policy that impacts their Safe Driver Rewards status for 9 years+. Taxes and charges (like GST and stamp duty) are not discounted.

The Safe Driver Rewards status is linked to your policy, rather than to the vehicle itself. If you are replacing your vehicle, you can go online and update your existing policy details with the details of your new vehicle (an extra premium or refund may apply). If you have a new car and haven’t yet sold your old one, give us a call on 13 22 44. We can help make sure you keep your hard-earned Safe Driver Rewards status.

No. Since the Safe Driver Rewards status is linked to a policy rather than to a person, each policy will have its own Safe Driver Rewards status. These status’ will not affect each other.

You can find your current Safe Driver Rewards status by logging on online and locating your renewal documents.

If you make a claim such as where the driver of your car caused or contributed to the damage, or you can't give us the details of the driver that was at fault, your Safe Driver Rewards status will bump back by a status level. Otherwise, your status won't change!

With Safe Driver Rewards Protection, which you earn at Diamond status, you can make one claim per year without impacting your status. However, you won’t receive a Safe Driver Rewards credit at the next renewal. But, you’ll still be entitled to discount off optional AAMI Roadside Assist.
